Urban at Sea

At 70 meters in length and cruising speeds of up to 20 knots, this racing sailboat designed by Philippe Briand might literally make your head spin.
Liaigre’s ambition was to turn this elegant, state-of-the-art giant of the seas into a rare, distinguished work of art.

Inside, curves abound and portholes frame views of the sea. The yacht makes use of a palette of luxurious but understated materials: darkened waxed oak, doors lined with white leather, and sinks made of mahogany and steel.

High speeds require excellent ergonomics to ensure comfort and safety, and all of the ship’s furnishings fit the bill. All the furniture is bolted to the floor, storage spaces are built in, and desks are mounted on steel rails. The solid aluminum staircase leading to the upper deck features steps with raised edges to ensure proper foot placement.

Built to exact specifications by New Zealand shipbuilder Alloy Yachts, the Vertigo earned four prestigious awards in 2012.
