This townhouse situated in the heights of Athens has all the airy charm of a vacation home.
With the help of fellow architect Thassos, Liaigre boldly gutted the residence to reconfigure its spaces and open up doorways and windows to bring in light and airiness.
The rooms are simple but spacious, and most of them open directly to the outside, whether into the yard, the pool, or the city. The upper and lower levels are separated by a stone and wood staircase. The furnishings are tailored to the residence, which is home to a number of artworks that the owner, a collector, has acquired from around the world.
Taken together, they form a modern ensemble, turning the space into a haven of peace in the heart of the city.
The furnishings are made of dark wood and patinaed bronze and include touches like a saddle-leather bench and silk cushions and carpets. Though understated, they are enhanced by the use of refined materials that add a breath of luxury to the clean, streamlined aesthetic. Taken together, they form a modern ensemble, turning the space into a haven of peace in the heart of the city.
