The vacation home is a refuge, often a brief respite that allows for rejuvenation: reconnecting with the joys of gardening, water, sunshine, mild evenings, and starry nights. Christian Liaigre understood this perfectly, designing his clients’ vacation homes as he would his own, with a sensitive approach that expressed his love for nature and the seaside, always imparting a unique style and distinctive composition. In all latitudes, climates, and diverse configurations, Studio Liaigre today imagines places that reflect their owners and meet their desires and needs. Each project is approached with consideration of the context, a situation dictating proposals and choices, a preliminary and essential step for the Studio teams.
This context includes the landscape, climate, light, usage, local culture, and more intuitive elements such as the imaginary aspects of places. This leads to suggestions of various materials, textures, and a color palette that shape the project’s identity. Noble and natural materials offer a wide range of choices, whether stones, wood species, textiles, or fibers for rugs—the range of possibilities is infinite. The notion of authenticity is central to this thought: each project resonates with a place, whether sea, mountain, countryside, or island. However, a vacation home also embodies a sense of lightness; life unfolds between indoors and outdoors, with layouts, materials, and furniture conforming to this simplicity and lack of complication.
