Vacation homes

The return of sunny days signifies an escape; everyone yearns to break free from daily constraints and adopt a different pace. Open, family-friendly, and welcoming, the vacation home invites freedom and a more relaxed, contemplative way of life. Breathing and breaking away from routines contributes to this sense of escape. From Bora Bora to Nantucket, from Saint Barth to Malibu or Mougins, Christian Liaigre has created numerous vacation homes for his clients. This vision continues at Studio Liaigre today: designing vacation houses and apartments, as well as urban terraces and gardens, to enjoy outdoor living whenever the season permits.

The vacation home is a refuge, often a brief respite that allows for rejuvenation: reconnecting with the joys of gardening, water, sunshine, mild evenings, and starry nights. Christian Liaigre understood this perfectly, designing his clients’ vacation homes as he would his own, with a sensitive approach that expressed his love for nature and the seaside, always imparting a unique style and distinctive composition. In all latitudes, climates, and diverse configurations, Studio Liaigre today imagines places that reflect their owners and meet their desires and needs. Each project is approached with consideration of the context, a situation dictating proposals and choices, a preliminary and essential step for the Studio teams.

This context includes the landscape, climate, light, usage, local culture, and more intuitive elements such as the imaginary aspects of places. This leads to suggestions of various materials, textures, and a color palette that shape the project’s identity. Noble and natural materials offer a wide range of choices, whether stones, wood species, textiles, or fibers for rugs—the range of possibilities is infinite. The notion of authenticity is central to this thought: each project resonates with a place, whether sea, mountain, countryside, or island. However, a vacation home also embodies a sense of lightness; life unfolds between indoors and outdoors, with layouts, materials, and furniture conforming to this simplicity and lack of complication. Outdoor materials and textiles, small pieces of furniture that move from inside to outside, sofas and lounge chairs for relaxation, large tables for convivial moments, lamps, and lanterns—all creations of the Studio perfectly align with this relaxed and comfortable lifestyle.

Enjoying an outdoor garden or terrace is also an option in the city, and numerous projects by Studio Liaigre attest to this. In Munich, Neuilly-sur-Seine, Athens, New Delhi, or Geneva, sumptuous homes allow their owners to enjoy an outdoor life. Here too, the integration of the project within its context guides the Studio teams. The constraint is different, as it involves harmoniously balancing the daily life of a permanent residence (with its own demands), the lifestyles of a large city, and the natural space. Depending on the climate, interactions between indoors and outdoors

must be designed, making the house a cocoon if winters are cold, or conversely protecting the interior from extreme heat and light. Whether in remote locations or cities, Liaigre cultivates a lifestyle adapted to all moments. Leaving one’s home to join a vacation residence, or conversely enjoying the luxury offered by a city house with a garden or an apartment with a terrace, are all situations where the sensitive approach to context allows the creative teams to deliver exceptional projects.
