In the heart of winter

As the winter season approaches, bringing shorter and colder days in the Northern Hemisphere, comfort, coziness, and conviviality are more relevant than ever. In winter, the home—be it a city apartment or a mountain retreat—becomes a welcoming cocoon for its residents and their guests. Whether or not one celebrates Christmas and the New Year, this time of year invites gatherings, dinners, fireside conversations, as well as moments of reading, contemplation, rest, sports, and wellness.

Since its outset, Liaigre’s style has been founded on the desire to combine elegant design with optimal comfort. This comfort—particularly in seating—comes from the generous proportions of sofas, benches, armchairs, and chairs. The same focus on ergonomics is evident across all types of Liaigre furniture and architecturally designed spaces, which allow for freedom and fluidity of movement.
This unparalleled comfort is complemented by a selection of authentic and natural materials, including wood, leather, fabric, wool, cashmere throws, and the stone or marble used in fireplaces designed by the Studio. Such meticulous attention to detail explains the loyalty of the Maison’s clients, drawn to a luxury that is felt rather than flaunted—a luxury of lived experience that transcends mere appearances. Whether in Saint-Moritz, Megève, Munich, Niseko, Paris, or New York, the sentiment remains the same: one of elegant, warm simplicity.

When warmth and softness find their way into the home, harmony often follows. A palette of natural and warm tones, accented by occasional brighter hues, alongside carefully chosen accessories (plush throws, lacquer trays, small side tables, candelabras, and soft rugs) create a joyful atmosphere that transforms the interior into a soothing retreat. The desire to stay home extends throughout the entire house,

from the living room to the reading nook, the dining room, the espresso bar or kitchen (where meals can also be enjoyed), and even the bathroom, gym, or spa—spaces of comfort in both urban and mountain settings. Winter, above all, is the season that inspires a longing for well-being and relaxation, even in milder climates.

In the city or the mountains, nothing is more delightful than the crackle of a wood fire. Fireplaces, often integrated into the interior architecture projects designed by Studio Liaigre, are crafted from the finest materials—bronze or stone—and are tailored in design to suit their surroundings. These hearths become the focal point of the room.

Thoughtful lighting is essential in winter.
Adjusting lighting to suit different times of day, situations, activities, and rooms fosters an immediate sense of comfort. Light, as we know, “warms” (at least visually), playing a central role in how we perceive spaces and feel within them. As a vector of emotion, light sets the mood: vibrant and festive in a living room for entertaining, gentle by the fireside for conversation, subdued in the dining room to avoid over-illuminating guests, calming in the bedroom while conducive to both reading and sleep. Light choreographs the various rooms of the home, adapting to the rhythm of the day.
Liaigre offers clients a wide selection of lighting fixtures, including floor lamps, pendants, table lamps, and wall sconces, all crafted by artisans in its Parisian workshops. Made from materials such as wood, patinated bronze, and metal, and featuring lampshades in paper or sometimes alabaster, these lamps make for thoughtful gifts or elegant additions to any interior, imbuing it with the Liaigre’s signature touch.
